Hickory Log Creek Reservoir

Located in the City of Canton, Georgia

Hickory Log Reservoir covers approximately 411 acres of land, with 15 miles of shoreline. This reservoir is located in the city of Canton and is filled by Hickory Log Creek with water pumped from the Etowah River. It is less than 15 minutes away from the local hospital.

History

The Hickory Log Reservoir was created in 2008 after the Dam was completed. The Hickory Log Reservoir Dam spans 1,000 feet wide and 180 feet tall. This reservoir provides affordable drinking water to the city's residents and will help the city meet its water needs until 2040.

Outdoor Fun

Alongside Canton's beautiful scenery, the reservoir is a great place to fish, kayak, or canoe. In 2012 the Department of Natural Resources stocked the reservoir with bream, crappie, catfish, and bass. In 2015 and 2016, the reservoir was stocked with shad.

Boats with electric motors are allowed on Hickory Log Reservoir. Boats with gasoline, diesel, or propane motors and sailboats are not allowed in the reservoir to maintain a calm atmosphere for visitors.

Swimming is not allowed in the reservoir due to its proximity to the Dam. Safety is of utmost importance to this tight-knit community.

Nearby Parks

Boling Park is located nearby and has a host of amenities to enjoy. Families can have a blast exploring 20 acres with a one-mile gravel walking trail, a covered pavilion with bathrooms, a playground, baseball fields, tennis courts, racquetball courts, a basketball court, a bathroom facility, soccer and lacrosse field space, and picnic tables.

Brown Park, Burge Park, Cannon Park, and Etowah River Park are also near the reservoir, giving residents several options to choose from when planning a day outside.

The nearest hospital is Northside Hospital Cherokee which is approximately 15 minutes from the reservoir.

If travel is needed you can use the Cherokee County Airport or the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
